Charlie is very off tonight. Isn’t interested in food, isn’t really moving around a lot – keeps adjusting like she has gas but she hasn’t had anything to eat other than pellets and her hay all day. I was at school so I’m not sure what she ate today – I can tell she ate some hay but I’m not sure when the last time she ate would’ve been. She ate a treat just recently when I was trying to coax her to eat. She refuses the infacol drops so I have no idea how to get them into her. I used to put them on a dried banana and she would eat them but she’s on to my game now. She’s just laying in her litterbox looking sad and I don’t know what to do to help her. It’s 11pm here and I think driving to a vet that’s open would be stressful for her (far away).

I’ve been massaging her belly but haven’t had any luck with her. Usually I’ll hear gargling but I’m not hearing a whole lot. She let out a few poops but that’s all I’ve seen thus far, which I guess poop is an ok sign?

I’m at a loss and terrified of what’s going on with her

Yes, some poop is an okay sign.

It does sound like she has some tummy discomfort. I would attempt to get the Infacol into her-it certainly won’t hurt.

Do you have someone to help you?
I would put her up on a table or countertop, hold her close to your body. You may have to hold her head too. Put the syringe in the side of her mouth. You could even pick up the whole litterbox and transfer her that way.

Sending some {{{vibes}}} out for Charlie!

Keep up the massages if she lets you, then be very firm when admininstering the medicine. An insuline syringe (the small 1ml ones) will work fine since it’s small and easier to slip in her mouth. If she squirms a lot it’s best if you hold her head or have someone hold her for you, as jerseygirl said. Good luck!

thanks everyone! now 5am here..it’s been a looooong night. I kept her in bed with me and woke up to her drinking water – good news!
I tried to burrito her to no avail earlier – it’s just me so a little tougher on my own and didnt want to stress her out any more while she’s not feeling well. She got up and was hopping around the bed which is more movement than we’ve seen all night, and ate two dried bananas that i was able to sneak the infacol on so she should be on the mend. I started hearing belly gurgles which was good news – was getting worried about her silent belly all night.

Charlies back to her room and started chewing on all her toys the second she got in there, so maybe feeling a little better. Grunted and ran when i tried to pick her up but thinking maybe she’s still not feeling 100%.
I cleaned her litter box and gave fresh hay so just going to be on the lookout for some fresh poop and hopefully eaten hay!
Cross your fingers that she’s on the mend – I’ve never been happier to be woken up at 4:30 by Charlie
