This is Olly Rabbit, I have a new game called ‘When Mummy clean my litter tray out, bite her bottom’ I have been doing it a couple of days now, I don’t bite hard and Mummy says. “Don’t bite bottom.” Does anyone know why I could be doing this, it is only when it is stinky litter tray clean out time I do it.

Does Mummy have a particularly enticing bottom perhaps?

Sounds like a naughty playful inquisitive bunny! Guinevere has bitten my butt, thighs, ankles, feet, you name it. She has succeeded in training me. When I walk into her bunny kingdom, I first pet her, dote on her, make sure she knows she is the sunshine in my sky. Then I proceed to clean. If she approaches me while I’m cleaning, then one hand cleans, one hand pets!

In seriousness though, I have had a rabbit do that or nip at my hip before. I think it’s a bit like how they tell off another rabbit (when bonded to it) if they’re a bit annoyed or if it’s in their way. They nip at the bottom area. It’s a way to communicate without really hurting the other rabbit.

Back when Jersey was alive and I let her and Rumball roam outside, I would sit on the back step watching them. They’d come and go as they pleased. I remember Rumball would approach me to hop back outside and decide he wanted to go through the small gap on one side of me instead of the generous gap on the other side.  So he’d nip my hip as he squeezed past. I suppose it was his way of saying “I don’t like that you are obscuring the doorway”. lol

Rabbits can be territorial about their litter boxes. Everytime I take out Potamus and Gooseman’s box, Potamus will come over and pee on the floor where it was. She rarely pees out of the box otherwise.

Crysta bit my little love handles hard a while back. Man, it hurt. Thor will also try to nip me (but not hard). I think he just wants me to move but sometimes I can get him to lie down if I start grooming his ears. I think they just want us out of their way – no rhyme or reason.
