I heard Peanut sort of honk/squeak for the first time today. He was doing it whilst trying to sniff Buttercup’s butt lol. Is this a hormonal thing? He was neutered 13th December.

Honking could be considered a sign of excitement or wanting to mate.

Yeah I’m sort of torn – on the one hand I think it could be a mating thing as it was coupled with wanting to sniff her (maybe he’s responding to any residual hormones, she was spayed 2nd December or maybe it’s ‘spring fever’) but on the other hand, he stopped pretty quickly so it’s not like he was relentless in his quest lol. Maybe he was just excited, I dunno. He has wagged his tail with excitement before, he’s easily excited lol. I bet it’s the Spring that’s to blame.

Who knows, I’m still waiting for my grunts of excitement

Amelia honks at me first thing in the morning when I let her out of her crate and then again till I cuddle with her. She also sometimes honks when she’s eating greens. Amelia’s are soft and coo like I’m pretty sure it’s pure happiness

I know a lot of people refer to rabbit noises like honking, purring, squeaking and such. Wick is really vocal, but I classify his sounds as: 1) mini farts (they do really sound like mini farts), 2) pig oinks, and 3) exhaled-snort (passing air through nostrils).

If honking is synonymous with his mini fart sounds, Wick usually does this when he’s getting cuddled.

Mini fart sounds  I’ll have to keep my ears open and see if he does it again. It was pretty cute
