My 7 month old Floki just went into some sort of trance like state.

He is back to his mad self now and I found it all rather funny/cute at the time.

        But is this normal??

https://instagram.com/p/BSb7LrOh9pd/ <-- here's some footage from it Thanks folks

My guess is he was taking a nap, then woke up slowly

That’s odd, I’ve never seen that, he could be in a deep sleep, I would ask a vet for advice to make sure it is nothing like Epilepsy, not all seizures are shaking on the floor, like with humans they can just just act a bit strange, I would get bunny looked at to be on the safe side so you will know what to do if Floki has another attack.

Yes, how strange indeed…. unless he was concentrating soooooo hard on a noise (just without thumping) he didn’t realise you were there….
              maybe…

Mine does it when he’s extremely tired (late at night when I can’t sleep and bother him with computer noises or after an extremely playful day). It doesn’t happen often, but it happens.

Of course if this is something that Floki does often-ish, I’d suspect something is not completely right. Do try to write down when it happens + a description of the time/day, it might help you track down if this happens in a pattern and it will help the vet if you’ll decide to ask them about it

Hmm.. kinda odd. At first I thought he was just asleep (eyes open) but his nose was twitching a bit too much for that.
It looks sort of like an “absence seizure” (or petit mal seizures) which people with epilepsy can experience. I have heard of rabbit owners describing “absences” with their rabbits before.
As suggested by Muchelle, do keep track of these if you see it happen again. It’s great you got video as you’ll be able to show that to a vet if you feel he needs to be assessed.

What’s the jack hammer type the noise? Was this a new sound for him?

Thank you to everyone for your replies.

I have sent it onto a vet, hopefully all is good.

The jackhammer type noise was my PlayStation controller vibrating on the floor, he is most defiantly used to this

Lol. I didn’t know how else to describe it. It just sounded like a power tool.

Hmm, it is unusual. There’s not even any blink response from the eye. Let us know what the vet says, would be interested to know.

Hoping there will be good news soon, I did mention that not all seizures are shaking on the floor, I used to work as a teacher and I’ve been a nurse, I have seen people freeze like a statue for a few moments and then carry on what they were doing when they come out of it, they don’t even know it happened, well we will wait and see what the vet said.
