I successfully bonded my two rabbits.  They have lived in peace and harmony for almost 2 months.  They sleep together, eat together, groom each other.  The last two days my female bunny, Cece, is chasing my male, Rio, all over the cage and humping him.  Rio is a sweet rabbit and just runs away instead of fighting.  There is fur on the bottom of the cage but not sure whose it is.  Cece’s pursuit of him is relentless and I finally pulled her into a different cage last night.  I am not sure what happened or what to do.  Please help

How old are they? Neutered/spayed? How did you bond them – can you talk us through what you did? Has anything changed in their environment? Sorry, lots of questions

Sounds like she wants to be the big bun in the relationship.

But no seriously you probably need to bond them properly maybe to be sure?

Since youre finding fur, youll need to separate them for the time being. Fur being pulled can lead to a lot of complications, including injury, if it continues

I was told both of them were fixed (for sure the male is because he is from humane society).  The male is a little over a year and the female is about 4.  I have separated them now.  To bond them, I had them in cages next to each other for awhile and let them have “dates” when I was in the room.  The female was very scared of the male at first and would run when he would approach but he wasn’t aggressive to I let the dates continue.  He would try to mount her and she would run and he would leave her alone for awhile.  I continued to have them in cages next to each other until they started to seem to enjoy their “dates” with each other and eventually would just flop next to each other.  They started eating together and were doing great so I put them in the same cage and bliss lasted for like 2 months…and now this!

Sometimes bonds fail, it happens some are against it but maybe stress bonding? Like putting them together in a crate and setting them on a running washer?

I think you should go back to the beginning, it doesn’t sound like they were properly bonded in my opinion. Did you do anything on neutral territory? When you put them in a cage together, was it a brand new set up? Or did you move them both into one of their existing cages?

I did some time with them in the bathtub on a rug but I did put them in an existing cage.  I will try bonding them again I guess.  Any good suggestions on what to do this time?
