Hi, I’m getting Cupcake spayed tmrw and I’m really nervous … what should I expect behaviour wise? How likely is it that she will be less affectionate? does that usually happen? If I get my mom to take her to the vet will she still hate me and be afraid of me?

From what ive read most rabbits dont lose their personality, but something I have read as I am going through the same worries is that they COULD be a bit more shy and hide more as they don’t feel “normal” especially under anesthetics. I plan on confining bandit to a small area under my supervision for 2-3 days and making sure that he has plenty of water, hay/food and ensures that he doesn’t tear out his stitches or anything.

My girl was pissed at me for two days then went back to her normal self.

Cupcake may appear less affectionate the first day or two but that’s just because she will be recovering from the surgery; it won’t be anything she’s taking personally against you . Don’t expect her to be eating as much as she normally does until she is recovered, though make sure she is eating at least something. I bribed Luna with veggies. Drinking is important too, so if she usually drinks out of a bottle, give her a bowl too so that it is easier on her to drink.

Ok that’s good to hear.. I read that they become less affectionate because of the hormonal change

I never noticed any changes in personality with my two (one boy, one girl)
