We have never been away for more than two nights before and always just had my father in law check on the boys but he refuses to change their litter trays and even two nights is a stretch for that so we need to find alternative arrangements for the boys when we go away in may. Everywhere I have looked at is either outside boarding, or boarding in a shed in a tiny hutch – I would rather cancel my holiday than put my boys in a tiny hutch!

Anyone here from Glasgow/central Scotland have any experience? I really would rather have them stay home and have someone pop in on them but we don’t have any close friends here and I don’t know how I feel about a stranger in our house. I don’t know what to do. I thought about taking them with me but I don’t really want them in the car for hours either.

How long would you be away for?

Would your FIL do litterboxes if it were just a matter of pulling one out, putting a fresh one in? I’m thinking you could buy some more litterboxes and set them up ready to go..

We are going Monday till Friday. I don’t know if he would do that, I will need to speak to him I guess because I cant think of another option. I contacted a company that sounded like they really cared about buns, they have a converted summer house with loads of hutches in it when she showed me the pictures they looked tiny and she was bragging to me about the ‘spacious accommodation’ I doubt my two boys would even have fit in one of her hutches let alone been able to do three hops, lie down or periscope! I appreciate I probably wont be able to get them somewhere that will give them the space they are used to but I am not willing to let them be stuck in a tiny hutch for five days either. I found a fantastic place in Edinburgh but its a bit far in the car for them to get there I think

OMG I found an amazing company! Pet butlers! They will literally do anything at all pet related (even clean up dog mess from gardens) and the lady has two buns of her own. They are going to come twice a day for playtime, feeding litter change etc. I have told her all about Brambles issues with his tummy and she said she is happy to take them to my preferred vet if needs be, it happens to be the closest vet to my house anyway but that’s not the point. The vets have told me if they do need to go while we are away they are happy for me to pay any bills when we get back. They even turn all your lights on/off and open/close your curtains so it looks like you are still home which might not be such an issue in May when its pretty bright outside but its lovely of them to do it. Just waiting on a price from her but I don’t care what it is I will pay it because it sounds fantastic!

That sounds very promising. Especially given the woman has her own rabbits.
The only place I saw was this one, but I think the rabbits would be in small, indoor cages. http://www.fuzzy-butts.co.uk/
The other company I read of is Animals At Home which sounds like a similar service to Pet Butlers. I just don’t know if there is any close to you.

There were a few companies in my area but they were all hutches or indoor cages so this is definitely a better option for the boys. If I had the space I would totally open up my own rabbit boarding business, how great would it be to just spend all day looking after buns?
