Whenever I pick up Remus to put him back in his cage or move him out to play, I make sure to pet, scratch, and kiss him a bit.  I’m noticing that if I scratch him right between his shoulder blades he starts licking my  neck (his head is always tucked under my chin–something he does) and does this grunty grumbly thing, the kind he does when he grooms himself or when he’s doing something else that he seems to like.  And I mean a lot to where I have bunny slobber on my neck and shirt   Even Padfoot (who is manic rabbit and I swear those small ears are horns in disguise) seems to like it, though not like Remus does.  Remus will let you hold him as long as you want, even standing in front of the cage or where I let him down in the living room to play as long as you scratch or rub there.

I assume this is good, but want to make sure!

        Thanks ahead of time.

          Hello!
Licking is good, it shows that Remus loves you lots. Its a bunny’s way of grooming you, which is what bonded rabbits do. Your very lucky to have such an affectionate rabbit!

            I agree with muffinandmunchbunny.

Wick also licks as a way of saying “OK I love you, but please stop.”

I got my bunny less than a month ago and she runs away when I try to pick her up but sometimes she doesn’t. She binkies around me and just started giving me kisses. At first I thought she really hated me but she’s been starting to come to me and sniff me and she even licked my face today. I was hoping when I got her that she would be like my friends bunny that follows her around the house and all that but I’m beginning to learn to just be patient because she doesn’t work around my time I have to work around hers!!

Thanks, all! I assumed but wanted to make sure. Trust me, i know when he wants me to stop by now. He lets me know. If I stop doing this I get ‘the look’ and start again. This was a case of just wanting to make sure.

My bun is SUPER kissy. She kisses me for everything, if I kiss her head she has to kiss me, if I go to pet her she has to kiss me first, when it’s bed time she spends a good 10-15min “washing”my face. It’s all love
