3 weeks ago I got my bunny neutered. He is a little over a year old. He didn’t have any behavioral issues before, but I was afraid he would develop behavior problems in the future and neutering would be harder on him. Since neutering him, he has started to nip me and he never bit before, chewing up my clothes, digging and burrowing, and now he is nesting. I’m beginning to think it was a mistake neutering him. I need advice on if this is normal and will he go back to normal?

Sounds like someone has a bad case of the post-neuter craze.

This is normal. At 3 weeks post-neuter, he’s probably peaking right now. His hormones should start to stabilize and his behavior should improve over the next few weeks. They say to wait 4-6 weeks (sometimes 8 weeks) for hormones to stabilize after neutering.

Thank you for your reply. I feel so bad for him because he is obsessed with digging and nesting. He is my baby. He even tries to smooth the blankets on the bed. He looks so funny while doing it.

Nesting behavior in males is uncommon, but not unheard of. There are some other members here who have experienced this as well. He’s adorable, BTW.

If you are northern hemisphere, he could also be reacting to the longer days, the expression ‘mad as a march hare’ applies to buns too!
