At what age can you give “treats” to a baby bun to be able to start bonding with it?

I adopted a second bun this weekend. He is 3 months old. He is cage aggressive. When I reach in to pick up his poops to put in the litter pan or feed him his pellets he runs at my arm and head butts it. I am taking things real slow, but i need to feed him and keep his area clean!  Could this aggression just be because he is so new and just scared or am I going to have a problem?

When I do start to work with him what can I offer him for food? Doesn’t he have to stay on just pellets and hay for 6 months?

If he’s 3 months old, you can start introducing veggies now but very slowly.

I’m not surprised that he’s a little aggressive at the moment tho, you’ve only had him a few days and you’re reaching into his cage and probably scaring him. Of course you need to keep things clean but he doesn’t understand that.

Thanks! Yes, I understand. I am talking to him often and letting him see my hand and not reaching for him at all. Today was much better. He has been doing lots of flops and I didn’t get lunged at once. He did run away a couple times but I just continued talking to him and never tried to touch him.

That’s good Oh how much easier life would be if they could understand us aye! Talking before you go near him is a good idea and definitely helps! I still make sure I talk softly before petting my boy bun as he’s much more shy. If that stops being effective and he starts lunging again you could always try completely ignoring him whilst changing his litter and whatnot.
