        Hi everyone,

So I took my rabbit to the vet today to have his nails clipped, first time since I adopted him, the vet tech came out and said they had some complications and that she needed the vet to take a look.
Seems as though he had previously injured his nail and when she went to clip it it just popped right off and sprayed blood and the whole thing was awful and I felt so bad for him.
The vet stopped the bleed and said he would be fine he just needed to be caged for a week or so for it to heel properly …
well… he hasn’t eaten or had anything to drink, not even his treats and he hasn’t gone to the bathroom since this morning and now it’s 8pm… I am terribly worried.
Is this normal after a traumatic experience.
When should I start to consider taking him back to the vet?

ASAP back to the vets. Not eating, drinking, and toileting for 24 hours is GI Stasis which will kill a rabbit if left untreated

Its a bit weird to me that his nail coming off caused this much stress. One of my rabbits has lost 3 nails from normal use (they literally seem to just pop off; its bizarre to me but it doesnt seem to bother him in the slightest). I would look into how the vets said his nail came off. Its possible they did something to cause it pop off and in turn cause him pain, stressing him out

I agree with mikey and maybe they csn give your bun some painkiller so he can feel better and eat or drink something
