Hi! Bunnies haven’t been in their outdoor shed for about four months as our boy died and we were bonding our girl with another boy. (Apologies if I sound a bit cold – was very sad). Anyway, now it’s spring and we’ve attached a large run we want to pop them outside again. However, the winter conditions/dampness/the fact that the shed hasn’t been opened in months has led to mould on the wooden ceiling, wooden panelling, wooden cage sides etc….

Does anyone know of a safe way to remove this and make it A-okay for our bunnies to live in once more?

Thanks SO much. Replies would be massively appreciated.

Using vinegar is probably your best bet. Use either straight, white vinegar or a 80% vinegar, 20% water. Put it on the wood liberally and scrub with nylon brush and wipe with brush, Rinse the brush & clothes in another bucket that is 50/50 in between.
Then do a plain water rinse of the wood. Best done on a sunny day so it can all dry thoroughly.

Don’t use bleach. Especially on porous surfaces as it can end up feeding mould.

I’d recommend using a face mask and safety glasses so you don’t inhale any mould spores that become air borne. And to help cope with the vinegar smell!
