So, my rabbit kind of got over his GI stasis on thursday/friday and was acting normal and eating and pooping lots.  On a checkup visit on monday the vet said he had had a bacterial infection on his chin (fur/skin peeling/dried and new bald spot) but he said that the problem seemed to be taking care of/fixing itself and that if fur didn’t start growing back in a couple weeks to see him again.

Well, starting yesterday it seems my rabbit is not pooping as much? Not as less as he was during GI stasis, but not the normal amount. He eats his pellets and drinks water but seems to be eating less hay (but still eats it).  He is not as active and just lays around.

I’m wondering if maybe his behavior is because he is still getting over GI stasis? Or the infection is making him lazy?

Other notes- skin on chin isn’t red, it just looks like he is (shedding?) his chin skin with its fur.

I read in your other thread that the chin area became matted due to the feed formula and pineapple juice. Was it only this or did he get a wet or matted chin before the first stasis episode?

Did your vet check his front teeth and molars as best able?

Was the checkup with vet very recent? His lower appetite today could be due to some stress from the vet visit.

          Is he moulting at all?

I suggest keeping a food diary of all veg, fruit and other treats he receives. This may help narrow down if there is a good not agreeing with him.

Yes, the infection was due to the matted chin fur from pineapple juice and syringe feeding (I tried to clean it best I could, I guess not very well :s).
The vet checked his teeth on Mar 13 and everything was fine.
The last check up I am referring to (about his infection) was just this monday (Mar 20th), he was pretty stressed that day.
He is also moulting, he is only a little over year and has never shed so much, WOW.
I did introduce to him just last week parsley, maybe that isn’t sitting well with his tummy.
