So bonding had been on hold for these big bunnies for approx two weeks as Monte had a sprained ankle, which metacam has helped wonderfully with. He’s now better and the stressful process has begun

Their first two dates did not go well, however these were my fault as the pen was set up in the garden – this is not neutral territory, they both know the garden well. Both dates ended with a scuffle and because of Montes snuffles we couldn’t extend the process because of the stress.

Now their third date was set up in a completely neutral territory – the bathroom  It has gone very well, they ignored eachother for a while, explored, Monte humped Binky, they ate, they flopped beside one another and across the room from eachother, they groomed themselves and Monte groomed Binky for 5 seconds (it still counts!). All was rather lovely, it gave me quite a lot of hope that this bond does have a chance still as I was starting to believe these two wouldn’t sort out their differences. We’ve decided to give a fair few more dates in the bathroom, providing we don’t see signs of either being territorial over the space (it will be cleaned as soon as the dates are over). Here’s a few pictures of the two, it shows Montes size compared with Binky, and binky isn’t a small bun!

They’re both so cute! I’ve never had to bond bunnies yet as mine have been together since birth, but that seems like really great progress. Especially since they had a bit of a scuffle before! I hope all continues to go well for you and they’re bonded in no time! ?

Thank you! It’s just very stressful waiting for something that might or might not happen

              How is the bonding going?

It certainly is frustrating how they can make it so stressful. I tried (and gave up) bonding my two boys.

              Your buns are beautiful

Aw thank you, not being biased or anything but I agree they are very beautiful

Regarding how it’s going: They are strictly in the bathroom or kitchen when together, I attempted outside so they had more room and distractions but a fight broke out and I unfortunately stuck my arm in the middle and got bitten by Monte’s massive chompers My fault but boy did it hurt! Other than that things are slow, Binky has become more dominant and Montes starting to back down to her. I’m just waiting for one of them to back down and groom the other, they are so stubborn! Thank you for asking, I’ll add some more pictures of the two trouble makers soon

I know how frustrating it can be. Just get along!!! I tried bonding my two boys over the summer and failed. My older boy is almost 10 and I didn’t want to stress him out. I also got in the middle of a fight and my Bindi tore a big chunk of my hand. Had to go to the hospital. Will always be a nasty scar. But glad it was me and not Sterling. And besides, human health care is free here.

Well slow and steady. That’s how it goes sometimes. Hope someone grooms someone soon.
