For the past few minutes, my bunny seems to be nudging the other rabbit or a person, running away, than thumps and makes a noise that sounds like whining? He’s never done this before and the other rabbit wasn’t doing anything that I think could irritate him. The other bunny was sitting there and we walked up to him and did that. He doesn’t seem scared because he’s done it multiple times. Never to me though. Has anyone else had an experience like this? Is something wrong? Any answers as soon as possible are highly appreciated. They have been bonded for months. He has thumped before but never ran away or made noises.

I have them separated right now just in case, but he’s acting normally. I don’t know if he is still doing it as they are both asleep. I have a pen around the smaller cage, so they can go near each other right now if they wanted to. It’s a bit hard to explain I suppose. It was all of a sudden. Did he just want to play and was thumping because he was upset that Benji, the other bun, wasn’t running with him?

No experience, but it sounds like being frustrated for not being interacted with or played with.

Thanks for the advice! I thought maybe he just wanted attention because he kept on coming back to do it, but its the first time I’ve seen it. He did it once more but didn’t whine this time. I don’t think it’s out of fear, as they’re cuddling right now. I noticed it’s only when they put their noses close. Perhaps I’ll keep them apart while I’m not watching until I feel confident again.

By ‘whine’ do you mean grunt? Binky grunts at me and flicks her back feet when I move things in her area  Both my bunnies grunt for various reasons, especially involving food. I’m bonding my two at the moment and Monte grunts like a trooper, he fancies the pants off of Binky – this could be why yours is doing it?

Maybe it was grunting. I’ve never heard it before, I jusy thought it was so weird! Benji has always been the noisy one, I’ve never even heard Zel make any noise whatsoever.
