Over the past week one of my 2 rabbits has been losing hair on just the middle of her back. I checked on her today and the spot is now completely bare of hair and the hair around is molting a lot also. I applied bag balm because the skin on the bald spot is dry. It is not red or irritated with any scabs and it’s definitely not infected, but I am still very worried. I’m adding more fiber to her diet because I know that a lack of it can cause hair loss. Has anyone else ever had this experience or have any tips on what steps I should take next?

Are they a bonded pair? Could your other bunny be pulling the fur out from her back? Is the dry skin flaky? If it is flaky it could be mites also.

they are not bonded. The skin is not flaky just dry, and there is no sign of mites on her or any of my other animals. Her behavior has been completely normal and she has not been itching herself at all.

Is this because she’s molting? Has this happened before? My fuzzy lop gets bald patches this time of year as well.

she has molted before and the hair has regrown as it falls out, but this bald spot is in a large area and is slowly getting larger- she is loseing more hair. If it gets worse I think I’m going to take her to the vet.
