Hey guys, so I plan to get my 3 rabbits (all boys) neutered here soon. Two of them (Buddy and Casper) are around 3 years old while the other I am unsure because he is a rescue (Dexter).

Buddy and Casper seem to get along fine but every now and then they’ll get territorial and mount each other. These two also like to get very territorial with Dexter when they are all out playing in the yard when I take them out. Will this change this behavior?

Olly was neutered before I got him, I have had him a couple of years now, some bunnies do have little dances (As I call them) after a neuter, it doesn’t happen as much, Olly loves his blankets and dances with them sometimes.
          Male rabbits are territorial.

A man’s home is his castle. People enjoy the position of rulers in their own homes, and others have no right to enter without the householder’s permission, this also includes male bunnies..

Buddy and Casper don’t sound bonded – and they aren’t “fully bonded” anyway as the young aren’t neutered and neutering changes everything …. bonding should not be attempted without being neutered prior. They should be completely seperated or you risk a big fight with injury or even death. They should be seperated , seperate cages , in same room , close enough to know the other is there but not close enough any limbs or teeth can get to the other . Then neutered and wait 6 weeks before any bonding attempt ( others will be better to advice you from that point on than I can )
The third bunny ( dexter ) will need neutered too and if you intent to bond a trio then there are some here that can help you at that point but first seperate all , neuter all , and wait 6 weeks for hormones to settle

And please don’t put your three unbonded boys together to “play”
It’s a disaster waiting to happen
And If a fight happens ( which I say is a matter of time with the behavours like mounting and two ganging up on one and all unneutered) it may be unfixable grudges that are formed.
2 unneutered rabbits can kill, it’s important to know and remember as it’s very important to remember when bonding to be aware of the signs of it not going well.

Have you bonded Buddy and Casper? If so, you’ll need to re bond after they have been neutered. What about Dexter? You can’t simply put 3 unbonded rabbits together for play time. It doesn’t work like that. If you want all 3 living together, you have to properly bond them. Neutering is the first step.

None of them have been bonded because they are all not neutered. Buddy and Casper played outside together often as babies. But now that they have reached puberty I do not dare try it. They all live in the same room in 3 seperate cages. They can see each other all of the time. I’ve tried the switching of litter bins a few times as well. But I won’t know the true outcome until they are neutered and wait a few months or so. Some tips would be great!

Wait until they are all neutered and given adequate recovery time (several weeks minimum). For some great beginner bonding tips, check out the Bonding Info here on BB, in the BUNNY INFO section.
