  Hi everyone
  
  This is probably a stupid question, but I’m willing to embarass myself to make sure I understand correctly.
  
  When the prescription says , for instance,
  
  30mg PO bid
  
  does it mean that 30mg of the drug should be taken twice daily each time 30mg, making the daily total 60mg,
  
  or that the 30mg should be dividen in half so that the daily total is 30mg.
  
  I am totally confused by this.

  You’re not embarrassing yourself in the least, of course. 30 ml bid PO is 30 mg twice per 24 hours by mouth. Making it a total of 60 mg per 24 h.

  Is this a script from oral baytril you have yet to get filled? Otherwise, it’s odd there isn’t the amount in mls you’d need to give. Often that is printed on the label after a script is filled.

  Jerseygirl, yes it is a prescription for Baytril, however where I live ( Europe), Baytril is currently available only in the form of tablets, hence no ml is given.
  My vet is rabbit savvy, however I am not yet ( ouch!) so I asked the question mainly to understand the general safe dosage info, I don’t have any medical background, so just wanted to make sure I don’t do something wrong.

  Ah, I see. Well, I hope they aren’t liver flavoured for cats and dogs. Or you can disguise the taste enough if they are!
  
  Baytril is generally dosed at 5-15mg/kg.
