My rabbit, Juno, is having trouble getting off of his side when he slips. The behavior is new as far as I know, and I don’t know what to do about it. When I came home this weekend and was sitting on this floor with him to socialize and feed him some pellets, he slipped on my (kind of) slippery floor for him. He couldn’t get onto his feet without me picking him up, though it seemed as though he was trying rather hard, moving his legs to try. I immediately pick him up and put him back onto his feet, and he will sit there anywhere from a few seconds to a couple of minutes just breathing. I know I should just call a vet, but a large snowstorm just hit my area and I could not get to one if I needed to until a couple of days. Until then, it’d be nice to have some ideas or advice

Does he move/act the same way if you put him on carpet or a rug?

Somewhat. He is less prone to slipping on a blanket, so I put a fleece out in front of his cage. He’s stayed mostly on that. There have been a few times when he’s seemed as energetic as he was (such as right now, as he’s exploring my bed), but mostly will just sit in one place on my floor, despite having the whole room available to him without any of the restrictions he normally despises..He definitely has an eye infection, and I am taking him to the vet asap, but as I was typing this he fell over (on my bed) and still could not get back up without my help. I’m very concerned about this. He’s only 3 years old and is my greatest comfort and friend

I hope the weather permits you to get to the vet. {{{Juno}}} It sounds like he could have an ear infection affecting his balance. That is something that at least needs to be ruled out at the vet. If he had eye infection and possible ear infection, please ask the vet that they prescribe pain relief. Sometimes they’ll only give antibiotics…
              Good luck!

I’d get him to a vet very quickly. Sounds like he needs antibiotics and pain/inflammation relief. He shouldn’t be falling over (balance), and should be able to get up (balance/paresis). How are his legs/coordination otherwise? An ear infection will cause those symptoms.

I’m hoping to go tomorrow. He’s well coordinated on my floors, despite their slippery nature. It’s when he leans too far back and falls over or does slip that he has problems. He’s a lop mix, usually eith one ear up and the other down, but has had both ears down lately. I didn’t think much of it until now.
