We have pine tree and we don’t use any pesticides or anything. Could my bun have a couple?

Yes. Pine cones are fine. If you’re in a climate zone with lots of insects you can bake the pine cones in the oven for like 20 mins or so first just to be safe. It’s not needed where I live so I just give them as they are. Buns often like to throw them.

Do you happen to know on what heat to bake them on?

              I’d go for sth like 100 degrees C (212 F).

I have a two stage process. I give a quick soak in hot water and vinegar and give a vigorous scrub. Rinse well and then dry in the over, from wet you can do up to about an hour in the oven at 100C, but for pinecones that you haven’t washed up to a half hour. I try to avoid the oven as much as possible and sometimes air dry in the sun after washing if we have a hot day, because pine cones in the oven often stinks up the place
