        Hi Everyone,

This is my first time here. I have a Holland Lop that is 5 months old. I bought our Holland Lop for our 6 year old daughter and we are all in love with him. My question in about treats for him. When can I let him have a little lettuce, other veggie or piece of fruit. So far he has only ever had his Timothy Hay and his pellets. What do you suggest I start with and when can I slowly introduce a treat for him? Also, what do your bunnies like to chew on? He really only seems to like toilet paper rolls, which is fine with me but I want to give him something a little more enticing.

        Thank you for your help!

        Kelly

Hi Kelly !!!! And welcome!! *wave*

Most people here only give “naughty” treats (a small slice of banana or apple) to their rabbits maybe once every three or four days or once a week like fruit as they are very high in sugar. Bad for bunnies. A little lettuce (not iceberg) should be okay though and other veggie introduced slowly. My bunnies like to chew on cardboard boxes !!

You can hide some pellets or hay (sticking out a hole!) in a toilet roll folded at the ends. It will give him something to play with at the same time.

Welcome and please, stick around !

          Ps. What’s gorgeous boy’s name?

            Welcome
I have two holland lops as well – Oakley and Boston ( 4.5months old and 8weeks old)

I second the toilet tube stuffed with hay , “treats” very rarely. Introduce new foods slowly
There will be others here better able to advice on meal veges and herbs as well as treat fruits as my boys are too young yet
Untreated willow , apple twigs , and toilet rolls are great for their teeth

Thank you so much! This helps! His name is Mr. Walter Bunnel Van Persie. My daughter and husband named him. We call him Bunnel for short. Should I wait until he is 6 months for some lettuce (not iceberg)? Or do you think it’s okay now? He is 5 months in 2 days.

              Thanks again,

              Kelly
