This morning I did my morning check over and I noticed a littlelittle red dot just above her eye, and one near her tear ducts. They feel like scabs but they’re not. She doesn’t have fleas or ticks or anything. She does have weepy eyes. She’s eating fine, using bathroom fine. Maybe she got kicked in the face on accident? (when I examine her babies I put them in feet first and sometimes they kick and yesterday Danish accidentally hit her face. Could that be it?

Please take her to the vet. It could be injury from the bunny kick but it might not be. I thought you were separating the mum and babies anyway?

I couldn’t agree more, Sarah.  Lilo,.. forums, and the internet, are starting places, for one to post certain questions, but, hunny,.. we simply cant give you vet advice,.. its just not,.. proper is all. We ARENT vet’s… asking us, in different posts,.. isn’t going to do a darn thing, to help your poor bunny get any better.

Please,.. try to find a way, to convince your mum, to get you bun the treatment she needs, and deserves.

We got her an appointment in a few weeks. I just wanted a second opinion. We have separated Cotton, we are not working on Danish and Cadbury.

Yeah I got that but I don’t know what she means by “not working on them”

I don’t want to scare her off.. if shes at least getting the vet care, for the immediate mother rabbit, with the eye infection…I’m going to tell her, shes doing good… up until this recent post, heck.. I didn’t even realize, there were other rabbits involved..- to ME -they should all be vet treated/seen… but,.. – here is the tricky part too – this is, what I am assuming, – my guess only – a teenager?? … now,.. what teenagers, actively breed rabbits, is beyond me lol. I have teen daughter myself, and… I just couldn’t imagine giving her the ” green light ” to go start a rabbit farm xD
I do think Lilo, is concerned for her buns tho, I just wish, she would stop asking us for medical advice, is all, since it really makes me feel very helpless
Lilo, I meant, no animosity, in this reply either.. I’m still proud, that your taking the momma to be checked out!

What I mean by working on them is I’m trying to get them to better homes. They all are getting checked in a few weeks. I didn’t mean to breed my bunnies but it happened and now we have Danish and Cadbury.

Hi Lilo, could you post a picture? If it is a scab from dried eye gunk, it will drop off or you could groom it off. Occasionally Guin gets a piece of dry eye gunk which iritates the tear duct, and I wipe it off with a warm wet cotton ball. If it is an inflamed tear duct, your vet will be able to decide if it is caused by an infection (you’ll get some antibiotics to take home), a blocked tear duct (the vet could flush it), or a dental issue. Not all dental problems can be seen by a mouth exam. Sometimes x-rays are needed. If Lilo has an abscess, only an x-ray will show that – just like when we go to the dentist, x-rays show those abscesses that cause us to need a root canal, even though our teeth feel fine to us. (This is more info for your mom, since she has the purse). Just like with humans, an abscess coudl be draining somewhere and we don’t really know about it, and then one day we feel pain or get a septic reaction from the abscess. While abscesses are not all that common in rabbits, I have read of a few in this forum that have had them. It could most likely just be a bacterial infection, which you would still want treated, since they can spread to the respiratory tract. I’m super happy to hear yoru mom has agreed to a vet visit 🙂 Keep us posted 🙂

(One time when I was a teenager, I rescued a guinea pig that had things crawling on it’s eyeballs. It was horid – this poor thing had mites everywhere. So… you might also want to check the fur very closely, and look for mites or mite poop. Once I found one crawly on Lancelot. But if Lilo has any tiny crawlies near her eye, that could also cause irritaiton. What color is she? Crawlies are easiest to spot on white fur. Part her fur and look all the way down to the skin. )

I’ve tried to push it to see if it’ll come off like a dry scan and she’s groomed a bit and I only see one now, the one above her eye. Every morning and throughout the day I clean out her eye funks. The babies have one or two little guns and the occasional hair in their eye and that’s it for the day. She constantly has something in her tear ducts. We are currently selling the babies and the money from that gets the vet visits. We only need to sell Cadbury now(?) and in my area there’s a vet for $39!! But they only have one rabbit vet which means it keeps getting pushed back for more serious problems on other bunnies . Lilo is white, and Danish is black. Her skin is very pink and doesn’t look crawly(ewwwwwwwwwwwwww). I’ll definitely keep posted when we get to the vet
