I have a simple question. I just got my rabbit spayed (she actually still has the cone on and is getting her stitches out Monday) and I’ve bought her a bigger litter box, and it seems like her litter habits have improved tremendously. Overnight, there has been no peeing outside her box and no pooping almost, except for a few cocoa puffs. What I’m wondering though, is if it’s too early to build her a dig box. I’ve got the bottom half of a plastic cage that I’m going to put in her kennel, with just a good layer of paper balls for her to throw around.

What I’m worried about is her peeing in it. I don’t want her to associate it with a litter box. Is it too soon? Should I wait until her litter habits are cemented?

If her litter habits still need improvement, then it can’t hurt to wait just a bit longer, especially if you are giving her other substitutes and toys.
