Hey guys. I have had my bunny for almost a month now. He’s a 12 week old fuzzy lop. At first he was so scared of me but now he’s just started to get so sweet and affectionate. This morning he was cuddling up to me and following me around. I let him run freely around my room while I’m home but I have to put him in his cage when I go to work because he’s not fully litter trained and can be a bit destructive. He usually goes into his cage at some point to eat and I close the doors and leave for work, but today he wouldn’t go in so I had no choice but to pick him up. Of course he freaked out in my hands and then seemed sad/angry and hid in his hutch. My question is, will he be mad at me or forget? I was so happy he finally warmed up to me and now I’m scared I’ve ruined everything.

Buns are great at showing attitude, and sometimes being overly dramatic in the moment. My bun gets mad at me if I stop her from kissing me and will go hide in her cage and give me bunny butt. With that said you did startle him but I expect he will have forgiven you when you get home, consider bribery with a tasty treat if he’s still a bit nervous.

You may also want to consider teaching him a “go home” command to make mornings a little easier on you both. I started clicker training my bun at 14 weeks and she’s learned commands very quickly and loves to show off. If my husband needs to put her up and she is being stubborn he just guides her in with cilantro

Buns forgive quickly if there’s treats involved; )
