Has anybody used Pennington Fuel Pellets before for their bunny’s litter? These are the only wood stove pellets that I can find near me. Are they safe? Also are wood stove pellets good at keeping the odor down?

Here’s the link of the fuel pellets:

They don’t have a description of the product, saying whether or not it contains accellerants, but I saw 2 reviews where people were using it for an animal’s litter box. One review was from a small animal rescue, so I assume they would only be using safe materials. That review was from 2 years ago, though, so it’s possible that the product could be different now.

I just noticed one of the questions asked was if the pellets were safe to use for rabbit litter. I don’t know if someone from the company answered or if they really know anything about rabbits or not. They may just be stating this as company policy to avoid any liability, but here is their response:

A.Hello, We do not recommend using the Pennington Fuel Pellets as bedding in a rabbit pen. The pellets are only intended for use in a stove or hearth. Thank you

If they have the bags in the store and the label states that they are plain pellets with no accellerants, then these would probably be okay to use.

Do you have any feed stores or horse supply stores near you? Horse stall pellets are good to use for litter and they are economical like the wood stove pellets. They may have them in hardware stores too.
