  My bunny started to grind his teeth semi loud right next to me and then he would nod his his back then go back to grinding his teeth over and over. He has been eating fine and there are no other unusual behaviors. I know teeth grinding is a sign that a bunny is in pain, but mine acts fine. Has anyone else seen their bunny do this before, teeth grind the nod head back? Thanks

  I’ve never seen or heard of a rabbit do this before. If possible, I would set up an appointment with your vet. It may not be pain, but something seems to be making your rabbit do this. It’ll be important to identify what as soon as possible.

  Buns will also “purr” with their teeth when they are happy. “Happy” tooth chattering and “in pain” tooth grinding probably sound similar, so I would look to his eating habits and other behaviors to help make a distinction. Of course, you can always play it safe with a vet visit.

  Unless there are other symptoms that are concerning, I’d just keep an eye to make sure nothing develops. It could be happy teeth grinding. Sometimes that can be loud!
