Today I decided to clean my rabbit’s (Thumper) scent gland and I found this hard yellow thing inside of it instead of the usual scent gland and it looks painful. I wanted someonea advice before I take him to the vet.

Did you try to see if it comes off after moistening it with little lukewarm water? Maybe it’s just a bigger lump than usual.
If it comes out without problems but you’re still worried you might take it to the vet along with the bun. If it doesn’t come out easily… have a professional handle it, so you know you won’t risk hurting the bun!

When a scent gland is plugged up, it’s as a rule by a black, seedlike thing. I’ve never seen anything yellow. Here are some good pix:

I don’t think it’s very common but I do believe scent glands can become infected. Maybe the yellow stuff is discharge from an infection.
