Ive always had rabbits, so i know the basic dietary needs. But a couple months ago I decided to adopt and get my girl a friend. Theyre all good and bonded but now my bun along with her new buddy act like they are always STARVING. I feed them and they quickly eat all the food (before the new bun she would take her time) then as soon as its gone they beg me for more. And it hurts my feelings to not give them anything else. My orginal bun knows where all the food is and opens cabinets and jumps on tables eating out of my fruit bowl. Which was never an issue before. The new bunny has copied her and does the same thing. I find myself sneaking to the fridge and slowly opening it so they dont hear, otherwise there is two buns standing up begging me for food. It makes me feel terrible. They really are the best of friends but my bun as never been so bad, even as far as pulling books off the shelves and chewing them up! What is going on?

Lol. Double trouble! I suppose they feel on some level they are competing for food now that there are 2 of them? Or ones excitement for feeds the others excitement.

Can you scatter their food around so it takes them longer to eat it all. It’s not a bad idea if they gobble too fast…

Do they have access to unlimited hay?

Yes they always have alot of hay, but the second new thing is not wanting to eat it after its been out for too long so I waste alot of hay changing it every day…… I tried the scattering the food one morning and my bun 1st bun ran around and started picking up all the greens while the new bunny just stood on two feet in fromt of me like “arent you going to fill my bowl?” Haha, so I havent tried that agian thinking he wouldnt get enough food.

              Ahhh…I know the feeling.
Could you put aside the uneaten hay if unsoiled, store with a little of the other, then offer it again at a later point?

In regards to the hay eating, I find offering it little and often is best. So instead of putting down a huge wad of it, I put down one or two handfuls and then once that’s nearly gone, I top it up with anther one or two handfuls. I also find fluffing it up regularly helps rekindle their lust for it lol. They’re so fickle.
