          Every bunny is spayed/neutered?

If the babies are of an age where they are being sold, they’re old enough that they’re weaned and so mum is pushing them away so that they don’t try to nurse from her and she is saying she doesn’t want them around. They should all be separated so that firstly she doesn’t hurt them, and separate them from each other so that there’s no risk of pregnancies between the kits. Since they’re weaned now, it would be best to have Lilo spayed

They’re not spayed/neutered yet. But thank you Azerane.

How old are the babies? Mum bunnies definitely do get to a point where the babies are bothering them and they want a break.

Yeah, shes not being as gentle with them as before, so i think she sees them now as adults. I’ve never seen them nurse since yyesterday(i often walk in on them nursing) or heard them(scratching). I think they weaned themselves lol. They’re just 8 weeks old

Rabbit only nurse once a day, so you are not likely to see it. By two months, they should be pretty well weaned, and mom will definitely be wanting a break. Have you seen the babies eat pellets and hay? I would separate them from mom, and separate them from each other into a girl and boy camp. By 3-4 months, you’ll start to see them fight. You’ll see it with the boys first, and later with the girls, so they will need to be housed separately as long as they are intact (not spayed/neutered). Once they are separate from mom, don’t reunite them. She will forget them quickly, and will probably attack them if you try to reunite them. Bunnies are all different – some youngsters can live together for 6 months without fighting, some will start to fight at 3-4 months. It’s hard to predict that. But with all their intact hormones – it’s bound to happen sooner or later. Weaning does happen all on it’s own. Rabbits are eating pooping machines. Lilo doesn’t need to teach her babies how to eat solid food – their instincts kick in and they eat what they see her eat. Lilo is trying to tell you that she had a great time raising her babies, and now wants to be alone. They will have different food needs. The babies will need unlimited pellets 15% protein, and mom can start to come down to 12% protein. All need unlimited hay.

                        Hi, Lilo,
I think Vanessa explained it the best. I hope now the babies and Lilo are OK. I am going to lock the thread since you have gotten some great replies and, as you know, we limit our posts regarding babies. I hope that’s OK. Please PM me if you have any questions, but the answers above should be helpful. We want to continue to hear about Lilo, how she’s doing and your further adventures together! Thanks, Rabbitpam
