when i'm playing with Meadow or petting her, if Michael walks up to us she will go after him.  she's bitten his jeans a few times.  the only thing i can guess is that i'm her chosen "mate" and she gets jealous or possessive.

will this stop after her spay...?  (please, please, please)

he's only four and now he thinks that "his bunny" hates him.

Aw, hopefully your son won't get a complex from Meadows very bossy aggressive ways. Has she always been like this or just recently? When he approaches her, how does he do it? Or does it matter? Does he approach quietly, or can he startle her? Does he approach or does she approach him aggressively even if he sits still in the same room? Sometimes the types of movements that children, just being children, make can cause alarm. I know with my nephews, even my spayed and neutered bunnies immediately get cautious.

However, the fact that she is not spayed is a huge part of this too. I suspect she will get much better after spay (it can take a month or so for her hormones to die down), but you also may have work with him on how to approach or let him be approached IF, and again I say IF that is part of the problem.

My rabbit Maryann has a similiar complex when it comes to my girlfriend - but she doesn't take it out on her, she takes it out on me. The only time my bunny has 'attacked' me (which is basically a short charge and her front paws hitting my feet) has been when she comes over. Literally, she hops towards my girlfriend and figures out who she is, then when I approach, she turns and charges me.

Talk about jealousy!

She his fixed though - has been for nearly 5 years. It just takes some patience and treats and now she'll actually hold still for about 5 seconds while my girlfriend pets her before running off.
My bonding quest with Maryann - Read about a less than easy bonding with two buns - but they did bond!

this started just very recently.  within the past week or so.  she's approx. 7.5 mos old.  Michael doesn't seem to do anything extraordinary... sometimes he's running around, but she was never bothered by him being rambunctious before.  i will have to teach him to be more cautious with her.  the past two days she's bitten me twice... not hard enough to break the skin, but hard enough to leave a mark.  i was petting her and she twisted around and bit my arm.  thinking she didn't want anymore pets, i put her down on the floor and she jumped back up on the couch for more petting.  she's sending out mixed signals now... lol...

Did you look at the "Language of the Lagomorphs" site? This is very helpful for understanding bunny language. I have a bunny that bites me too, but it is because he just loooooves his pets, and is trying to get my attention so that I will pet him some more. You can tell your son that this is his bunnies version of tapping him on the shoulder and asking for a hug

Here is the language of the Lagomorphs site! http://www.paperglyphs.com/rabbits/...ttalk.html
