Ok so, when I was cleaning my bunnies cage I was petting her. And I was rubbing her rib cage and I felt a round bump but not just a like a bubble on her rib cage, it felt like her whole rib cage was the bump and it was bigger than the other rib cage. So anyways, it didn’t feel like that on her other side( the side that has the bump is my bunnies left side). And my bunnies poop lately has been gushy and stuck together. So, I wanted to know if someone knows what this is, what can I do, is this an emergency, if you know what this is how much will cost. I’m really scared I don’t know what to do so if you guys can answer me as fast as you can that will be really great.

I’m really sorry this is happening, since I can imagine how worried you must be.

I’m afraid that it’s very difficult to say ‘it’s this’ or ‘it’s that’, however, since poop is a surefire sign to bunny health, in combination with this swelling you’ve discovered, I would take the bun to a rabbit-savvy vet ASAP in order to determine what the cause is.

Agreed that i would consider this atleast a semi emergency with the bump and mushy poop

As for possible cost, they might do an ultra sound and/or extra which my vet charges 200$ to 250$ for each (may be different where you live)

At the moment with mushy poop, hay is really the best thing for her as it will help keep the gut moving and bind the poop together, as well as bring the gut bacteria back into balance. Make sure she is drinking plenty of water also. They can easily get dehydrated with runny poop.

She should be getting all of her nutrients already from her food so I’d just encourage lots of hay consumption and nice wet veggies.

A good probiotic can help restore disrupted gut flora. My vet recommends Bene Bac. I’ve used it with one of my pigs while he was on antibiotics for a URI, a couple of the pigs when I noticed their poops were “off”, and Finn is on it now while he goes through a course of Baytril. I get the little tubes, and most of them like it enough that I squeeze a little out at a time and they lick it off. Those that don’t will often take it disguised in a lettuce leaf. Some of them like it so much they try and yank the tube from my hands.

Thank you, Danielle, for the advice and I will try it.
