So Lily is most likely getting her hind leg amputated. Since she probably can’t move outside with it (my dad wants to move her outside) I will be able to have space for 2 rabbits. I really want her to have a friend, I want another bunny, and I really want to get an animal from a shelter because I want them to have good homes. Now to the real question, what should I do differently when bonding a 3- legged rabbit? I tried to find a rabbit within 50 miles that also has 3 legs so the other one wouldn’t be highly dominant over her but I couldn’t find one. I’m going to adopt a normal rabbit from a shelter (probably around the end of may or start off June) Any advice on finding a rabbit at the shelter to befriend her? I believe I can bring her with me, it’s the SPCA. I’ve heard speed dating is a good thing, and my rabbit choice will be based on who SHE likes and not who I like the most inless she really liked 2 and I want one more. (Like if that rabbit has been there longer) any tips when I do get a rabbit to make 3 legged bonding easier?

Hi I think that’s great about finding her a friend – but….. I would just concentrate for the minute on getting Lily well and physically fit and see how she copes with her 3 legs.
Hopefully it will be OK but I imagine it will take a lot of time and care and effort and you’ll know when she’s much, MUCH better how to go about finding her a friend.

It’s not a simple op and she’ll need you by her side to help her get better fast

As you know the primary concern is making sure she eats and keeping her wound infection free – she may not feel like eating after her op, so you’ll have to entice her convincingly.. and if not then syringe feed her in a bunny burrito position.. day by day it seems, with pooor Lily’s complex injury.
