I had completely forgotten that I had received some candied popcorn for valentines day and I left them in my room and while I was away my rabbit got into the bag and ate a good portion of it. Obviously I wasn’t being careful enough, but she’s acting normally and eating hay and stuff but is she going to be okay?

I’m brand new at this and I feel like I just come to this forum when I don’t know what to do, so thank you!!!

All that sugar is going to screw up her GI tract. I would call the vet and ask.

How long has it been since she ate it? It’s good that she’s still eating well, is she also pooping well too? The sugar will not be good for her but keep encouraging her to eat lots of hay and she should be fine. Keep an eye on eating and pooping and if you notice if she is in any pain or has stopped pooping etc then take her to the vet.

Thanks for the reply! She’s eating hay right now and has been doing so pretty consistently for about twenty minutes She doesn’t seem like she’s in pain but I’ll keep an eye on her. I don’t think she’s pooped in the hour since I got home, but thats not unusual for her, i’ll keep monitoring her.

I agree. She’ll likely be fine. Just keep an eye.

It might be helpful to change the litter tray so you’ll know if she poops How is she now?

She left quite a few excess cecals over the night, which I expected with that irritated tummy of hers (on top of transitioning her to new pellets!) But she’s eating plenty of hay, pooping normally (aside from the cecotropes) and is being her usual energetic self!

Sounds good. We always recommend extra hay and close monitoring when a bunny gets into something they shouldn’t (which most of them do eventually).
