My bunny has been litter trained for almost two years now, but over the past month he started consistently peeing out side his litter box. He still uses his box but only about 50% of the time. I haven’t made any changes recently and I just can’t figure out why. It’s become a huge concern for me because if I don’t notice and clean it up right away he’ll hop around in it and so his feet and belly get soaked with pee. I’ve been trying to give him baths (just enough water to clean his feet and such) but he hates them. No matter how hard I try I just can’t seem to keep him or his cage clean.

Wow i don’t really know. Do you need to rule out a physical issue? I’m hoping one of the experts here will respond.

Could it be a urinary tract infection?

I would recommend a vet check. Unusual behavior usually has a reason and peeing outside the box can be a symptom of UTI or bladder stones.

It can also be a sign of e cuniculi. That’s a parasite that can affect the kidneys. It’s treated with a dewormer (Panacur) for 28 days. Tests are notoriously unreliable though, so many vets prefer to treat on symptoms alone.
