Hi there, I’m brand new to thd forum. Recently I adopted a male bunny named Brian he is 18 months to 2 years. When I adopted him they advised he was a little bit cagey and didn’t like people coming  into his home which is fine, I let him come to me. I understand I am new to him and I am slowly building a bond with him. He seems happy he binkies atleast twice a day, however sometimes when I go to pet him, he gets very submissive and sits there panting fast and heavily, could this be how he was treated by previous owners?

I really want to build a strong trusting bond, sometimes it just feels difficult as he either runs away or just sits there breathing a lot faster than usual.

Any training or bonding tips would be great.

Best thing to do would be to sit by him and actually ignore him til he approaches you, then hand him a treat Don’t pet him if he doesn’t seem comfortable with it, eventually he will associate you with positive things.
