I wanted to get a second opinion before I took my rabbit to the vets as I might just be making a big deal out of nothing. The thing is, whenever Luna sit in a normal rabbit sitting stance, her body will tilt towards the left and her right leg will extend. This happens every single time and I have never seen another rabbit do it, so I’m a bit worried. Is it normal, or should I take her to the vets?

Also, totally unrelated but she’s an indoor rabbit and we have wooden floors so she keeps sliding about everywhere and her arms move into positions that look uncomfortable. I have tried putting down blankets and stuff but she just loves running about too much.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

        Thank you

Luna does the same thing when she sits. I think it’s similar to when we sit – I never sit up straight! Her right leg sticks out a little bit when she leans her weight to the left. She’s doing it in this pic, though her leg is sticking out more than normal because she was in the midst of grooming.

It’s possible it’s just her posture or a position she finds comfortable, but check for sore hocks and other injuries, does she show any unevenness in her gait when she moves around?

I really hope so because I was starting to think she might have a damaged spine or something

She has no sore hocks, and she just tends to slip about everywhere because we have wooden floors so it’s hard to tell. She’s struggling to get into her cage at the minute because she underestimates her jump and ends up falling.

Is it a new cage? If she’s been making the jump no problem and now she falls then i would be worried that something does affect her ability to jump. If you are worried it’s worth a vet visit. It’s better to be safe than sorry in my opinion. Worst case the vet tells you it’s nothing and you leave with a peace of mind.

Yes, also instead of blankets, could you buy a cheap carpet mat? I say cheap (or second hand) because it might be likely that she has a chew or two on it – she may not, but it’s better to be safe than spending a lot of money to begin with.

My two don’t mind walking on my tiles, but they binky and zoom on the big carpet mat which they don’t slip on at all… so I definitely wouldn’t be without one.
