I have had the rabbit for about a month now. She is very social, loves to come up to people, loves to run, loves to get pet, etc. She doesn’t seem like the shy and scared type, but when it is time to pick her up, she will get away. We have had her for a month now, and I am noticing that her nails have grown since. Plus, we can hear her nails on the carpet when she runs. She doesn’t seem to be showing signs of pain during running, but I do want to get her nails clipped so she can have healthy feet. Any tips and advice for a bunny that won’t let you hold her?

My bunny hates being picked up with a passion. I use treats to get him on my lap or in his carrier and then i pick him up to groom him from there. When it’s all over there is s lot of feet flicking and cold shoulder. Lol. He’ll do anything for a tiny piece of banana though. I rarely pick him up. Only to put him on grooming table for brushing and i cowardly take him to the vet to clip nails.

Most rabbits dislike or hate to be picked up. Remember that their instincts tell them that being picked up leads to being eaten (in nature)! There’s a good video on rabbit.org that explains how to trim rabbits’ nails with minimal stress to them. You might check that out.
