I recently picked up Nature’s Miracle Odor Remover for small pets for my buns’ cages. The bottle says it can be sprayed in between cage cleaning days, so long as the bun is out for at least ten minutes after it’s sprayed. However, it says harmful if ingested. Don’t rabbits tend to eat the occasional piece of bedding? Does anyone have experience with this product? Is it safe to use?

I’m confused, if it’s a cleaning spray product, why does it matter if bunnies ingest a little bit of bedding? Surely you won’t be spraying it ON the bedding?

I wouldn’t use anything like this for bunnies. Just my opinion. I don’t trust things, even if they say they are rabbit safe.

I would just be cleaning with a 50/50 vinegar water mix. Good for odour control and non-toxic

See, that’s why I’m apprehensive. It says it’s safe to spray on bedding, but harmful if ingested. Thanks for the tip on the homemade solution

Oh my goodness I would never spray a product like that on bedding and just leave it, how bizarre. Are you using bedding all over bythe way or just in the litter tray?

I wouldn’t use it at all. I would find a cleaning schedule that works for your setup to eliminate odor, so you don’t have to resort to chemicals. For example, after years and trial/error, I have discovered that Litter box 1 gets apuppy pee pad and 1 scoop of wood pellets, litterbox 2 gets a pee pad and 2 scoops of pellets, litterbox 3 gets no pee pad but 3 scoops of pellets. Then they all get topped with hay, and I change the pee pads/pellets/hay every second day. Inbetween, I just top up hay. But to eliminate odor, I use that amount of pellets, and don’t go past every second day for cleaning. I like to use a 5050 vinegar solution to actually clean the litter box. But I don’t use anything as a deodorizer. My problem with deodorizing is that it covers odor, which is really an indicator that something needs to be cleaned.
