        Hi all,

My wife and I are likely going to be moving to the UK in December and are suddenly facing the dreaded 4 months of quarantine rule that seems to be in place for rabbits entering the country from outside the EU.  There seems to be a bit of a loophole in that if you fly to an EU country first, the quarantine is not required, but we wanted to check if anyone has had any experience with this.  Thanks!

I dont have any experience but I am in the UK. I don’t know if there is a way to get round the quarantine because you would run the risk of your bun being quarantined in the other country before being flown here (and i think you still need a pet passport even from within the EU), or if they didn’t do that surely they would quarantine your bun here anyway because they would know it was just a connecting flight? I’m not sure and I have no experience with it but I just think you should check really carefully.

It does seem strange that we would quarantine buns, given that its us that have the massive maxo problem

I know for dogs and cats there’s a quarantine process and a lengthy process to go through. I’m almost positive your bun will have to be vaccinated before heading over, as the UK has rabbit vaccinations. The bringing over a cat or dog is rather strict. I would not try to sneak your rabbit over, as there may be a penalty for doing so.

These links should answer your questions. The last one touches on EU regulations the first two mostly are about the UK’s regulation and such

              LOL – Trump versus Brexit – now there’s a dilemma !!! LOL – sorry no politics !!

I live in Northern France and cross regularly to the UK through the tunnel.

I can confirm that as it stands today, there are NO checks nor passports / vaccines requirements for bunnies crossing in a car through the tunnel.
(There are for cats, dogs and ferrets.)

However, yes 4 months is dreaded, but golly how do rabbits fare during a long trip (presumably in the hold) by plane….?

I don’t know about any bunny regulations re flying from US to Europe though.
