Tomorrow my girl Aniir is being fixed, and I’d like to bring her bonded friend Bedo but I’m not too sure how to do this.
I know some people say to bring them both in a large carrier, but Aniir will be at the vets all day until pickup time so I obviously dont want to just leave Bedo there, I will only bring him for the drive and into the office to drop Aniir off. Should I bring them in two separate carriers and just keep them side-by-side?. The downfall is Bedo is terrified of car drives and they wouldn’t even really be “sharing” the car drive experience because he will be faced into the corner of his carrier and wont move.
I’m not sure if it would be better to leave Bedo at home and hope neither of them wants to separate from the other, or to bring Bedo and Aniir in two separate carriers side by side and give Bedo a good smell of the vets office before bringing him home (and possibly for the pick-up to?)
        Just looking for some thoughts!

(Side note; Aniiir had a checkup last week and the vet checked her teeth, clipped her nails, weighed her and did lots of touching etc… and there was no issue with bringing her back to Bedo)

I’m very surprised that your buns were bonded before being fixed! Are they very young?

If they are young (which I suspect they are), you will probably end up needing to rebond them once your girl’s hormones settle, since she will likely smell very different, and she will be recovering from surgery. Is the other bun already fixed?

I think many on here will recommend separating they buns after her spay, and waiting for at least 4 weeks for her hormones to settle before re-bonding them, but I am not really sure what to recommend without knowing how old your buns are and whether the other one is fixed.

IF you had two adults who were truly bonded, the advice would be to send them to the vet together. It is very common for bunnies not to recognize their partners after they are at the vet for a long time, plus your girl would likely want to comfort when she wakes up from surgery. BUT, like I said, that advice prob doesn’t apply in this situation!
