        Hello guys,

I have a serious problems with my bunny – she started to be super naughty! She is sneaking to trashcan and trying to eat garbage from there (even we feed her nice, providing hays, greens and some rabbit food). Also she is jumping on the bed all the time, she definitely knows that it’s forbidden but she keeps doing this. We punish her as usual – immediately put her in the cage and ignore for a while – but now it doesn’t work anymore. First, I thought that she’s grieving about our another bunny’s death but it happened 3 month ago… We don’t know what to do with our rabbit, maybe we have to spray her?

And last time her poops changed, it became small and black. Shall we take her to the vet or can it happen because of eating garbage from trashcan? Can anyone advise a really nice rabbit vet in Prague?

Looking forward for your help, thanks.

It’s always wise to have a girl rabbit spayed. Girl rabbits have a high risk of developing uterine cancer around age 3-4. Spaying can also help make a bunny less stressed.

She might still be missing her friend. Rabbits form very close relationships. If she’s feeling lonely, she might want to be in the bed because it’s soft and has your scent on it. Sometimes however a bunny who loses its friend become more “free” in its ways and more bold.

It’s very difficult to dicipline a rabbit. It doesn’t really work, because the bunny tends to associate the punishment with the person who distributes it, rather than with the forbidden action. The best thing is to try and block her access to the bed. I’ve done that with my bunny and my sofa – after a month or so, he’d “forgotten” about the sofa, and I could unblock it without him trying to get up on it.

Eating garbage absolutely can influence her poop. Small and black is not good. As a rule it means the bun is getting too little dietary fiber. She should eat lots of hay so her poop gets big and golden-ish. Here’s a guide to bunny poop: http://imgur.com/a/5N4lD

Thank you so much and I am sorry for very late replying. Unfortunately our baby girl passed away last month before we took her to the vet… I was very sad about that cause she seemed getting better…

However I hope she had good time with us and I took all your advices. It is always good to learn more about pet bunnies and nest time we will do better for our little friend. Thank you for your help again.
