My husband saw/read something the other day that said if a rabbits ears are down, it is unhappy. This seems strange to me because often when loafing, a bun will smooth it’s ears back. Also, during pets, most of our buns lay their ears back to allow for a nice pet.

Anyone have any theories on this? Thanks!

It depends on the rest of the bun’s body language. Really relaxed buns will often smooth back their ears because they don’t feel the need to listen for danger. But ears back, squinted eyes could mean discomfort or pain…

That’s what I thought too. Or angled back with head down can mean aggression or angry bunny.

Personally, my favorite is one ear up while loafing Cracks me up.
