        Hi all
I’m new here and needed something answering please. So my Dutch buck, Oreo, went for castration surgery today and he has been home for about 6 hours now. (11 hours since being put under)
I was told he ate a tiny bit at the vet and PUing and having bowel movements but since having him home he’s not done any of that.
He’s not drunk much and keeps tearing his hay but not eating it. I gave him a grape but had to hold it and he’s not touched his nuggets.
In the end I’ve syringed 10ml recovery powder with h20 according to packet, and he’s taken it but he’s sat in a corner of the cage and won’t do much.
I’m concerned that I should be doing more but he’s not tooth grinding like he did during GI stasis couple years ago or anything like that
He has painkillers BDS so I will begin those tomorrow morning

Anyone think of anymore I should be doing?
        Xxxx

How is he doing now? It isn’t unusual for them to be out of it for a while, even after they come home.

My girl was spade but she didn’t do much the first day or so. I think the pain medicine keeps them pretty mellow. I offered her a piece of mango or papaya just to make sure she would eat. He will probably perk up in a couple of days. My vet actually kept her for 2 days. At first I was upset and didn’t want to leave her but then after going through the process I think it was good. She healed really well and never even messed with her incision at all. I feel like it made her recovery easier. Give him a liitle bit and he will come around!
