Hi, I have been reading all the posts and information uploaded on here and it has helped me a great deal. I recently just got two dwarf rabbits for Christmas. They are both sisters, very healthy and happy. They love to cuddle and play with eachother. I actually was able to get them to be going the bathroom in their box and they have been doing amazing at it. Not a poop to be seen. However, today there were poops everywhere which is not normal for them. I noticed my bigger bunny, Butterball chasing Lucy all around. Butterball has humped Lucy a few times but not as much as she did today. Today she would not stop humping Lucy. I put her in her cage and tried to break it up but no matter what I did she would not leave Lucy alone. Later tonight there were clumps of hair from Lucy all over and she had bald spots. I felt so sad because I do not know how to help her. She loves her sister so much and was so stressed out tonight that she was being humped. I seperated them for the night so Lucy could relax but I just feel awful! Is this normal for rabbits to constantly hump eachother? Is there a way to stop it? HELP!!!

You need to keep them separated until ATLEAST 2 months after they are BOTH spayed. It could take up to six months for the mounting and fur pulling to stop after both are spayed

Thank you for the help. We plan to get them fixed as soon as we can and are calling tomorrow morning, however, there is no promise they can be seen right away. They love eachother very much and I do not have a lot of space to keep them separate. I just went to check on them and lucy was sleeping next to Butterball separated by the cage, it made me sad to have to leave them apart. I am going to try and divide the room tomorrow because keeping one in a cage and the other out does not seem fair either. I do not want to upset them because they do love eachother. I just wish there was an easier solution for their sakes.

Swap them both so one in and one out and then next day swap them around.

The bald spots are where fur fell out as a safety reaction to being nipped. It will grow back but they are both turning into hormonal driven teenagers and as Mikey says they should both be separated until at least a month after they have BOTH been spayed, allowing for the wound to heal.
