        Hi there,

So my 4 y/o bunny, Zizi has had a bad start to 2017, having GI stasis, then a sprained paw the next week and then dental work. My partner and I have now become paranoid and have been keeping a close eye on her behaviour. We took her in last wednesday as she seemed to not be eating or toileting very much and we were worried she would go into GI stasis again. They said they wanted to eliminate any teeth problems so put her under and found a spur however no redness or cuts around it. She has been herself since her dental work (last week) but still has not eaten any pellets (excel) since she went into GI Stasis. We’ve tried a couple other pellets just to see if it was that brand but still no luck. We feed her greens every day but her appetite compared to before is much much smaller and she only seems to get excited by treats (herbs, fruit etc) whereas before all food was exciting for her. It is now almost a week since her dental work and we cannot tell if we are being paranoid or if we this is just all part of her recovery from the bad month shes had and multiple trips to the vet.

        Thank you for any help,

        Caitlin

So, you probably tried this, but maybe try to hand feed! Try to just put a little in your hand and feed it to your bunny. On the other hand, however, since your bunny had GI Statis and it possibly could be back, I would be SUPER cautious. I don’t know a lot about rabbits not eating, but I hope this could possibly help! I wish the best to you and your bunny! <3

They did take this spur off, right?
Did she have some pain meds after or is she still on any?

Can you try a pellet mush for her?

Microwaved pellet mixes. In a small bowl, add about 1-2 tablespoons of your rabbit’s pellets and enough water to cover them, with a tiny bit to spare. Microwave for 15-20 seconds, until water is absorbed and pellets are puffed almost completely apart (looks a bit like fluffed rice). Fluff with fork an allow to cool until luke- warm and give to bunny. Often the aroma will entice bunny to eat.

This is excerpt from Nursing your rabbit through GI Stasis.
