my two year old rescue bunny has been relentlessly humping me for weeks and im sick of it! i heard somewhere that spraying him with water from a spray bottle like a cat might work. is it okay to spray him with water when he is being naughty???? is that a mean punishment?

Water is not good on a rabbits fur or skin. Is he neutered? If not, get him neutered and in a month or two the humping should stop

Well, I personally wouldn’t do it. I don’t really agree with ‘punishing’ rabbits. Especially for humping because it’s natural behaviour fueled by hormones. It’s not like he’s just being badly behaved.

i’m trying it on an obsessive bun at the mo to no effect whatsoever. So no, don’t do it.

I once heard someone say , “rather than ‘punishing’, people should try to get to the root of the problem”.

But a firm “no” and immediately removing him from the position may be able to train him to stop on the first ‘no’…

If not neuteured then that is the ‘root of the problem’.
