        Hi Everyone,

do you guys put litter box during the bonding. My bunnys are not doing much during short bonding, so i have to extend the bonding time to3-4 hours, but it happens a few time my bunnys want to poo and pee. when i put the litter box in, they flight hard, i put two, they still flight hard!

Now the bonding session no litterbox no food, they just sit in each corner, they don’t interact at all, as soon as one of my bunny move, another one attack or ready to attack. it has been a month, nothing is moving on.

You should definitely put food in there and cardboard boxes and things for them to hide behind.

If there is nothing at all in the area to explore or take their minds of each other, then they will concentrate on the other bunny and all (negative) feelings will be magnified !!
So yes, lots of interesting things in the bonding area, food too which will make things positive for them

Are you bonding in a neutral area so neither feels it is his/her own place? Put down a plastic or cover so it is not a problem if they poop or pee….

Thanks for your reply, i did try bigger place and put box and food, but they just keep fight for food or space, so it end they are in each side , seems they reach agreement or something, they just separate half and half. so i have to limit the space to let them meet.

Yes i am bonding in a neutral area right now.  ok, i will just to clean up their pee and poop then, just wondering how everyone to handle this.

You can reduce the space then… but keep the food (not close together, maybe scatter the pellets) and NEW box… they won’t fight ‘over’ the food, they are still working out hierarchy… so it is that which they are fighting for, to be top bun.

The bigger space is so that when they do fight (and they may have to, however much we don’t want them to), the one being fought can run away, and has the option to NOT fight – in a small area, they do not have this option and so will fight out of defence necessity (their natural reflex as prey is of course to run, run, run)….

Thanks, i read your journey too, it is very helpful.

i think i found the right size to suit my rabbit now, median size seems they not fight much and have more interaction than before.
