My 1 year old female is suffering from what I believe to be early sign of stasis. She’s still eating a little bit (thankfully) but her poops are very small and she’s become rather lethargic. I’ve cut the pellets for now and have just been giving her extra veggies and hay for the additional fiber and massaging her tummy as often as she lets me. We go see the vet tomorrow night… Anything else I can do until then? She’s not drinking as much as I would like… Can I give her pedialyte or Gatorade to tide her over? Any advice helps!

Gatorade?! Is that something that’s usually done?

If you suspect GI stasis, you can’t afford to wait til tomorrow night to see a vet.

I’ve tried every vet in my area and that was as soon as anyone could get me in unfortunately I just didn’t know if that’s something I could do for extra electrolytes. I don’t have fast access to critical care either

Have you told them the severity of the situation? When my bun wasn’t eating or drinking yesterday, I called the only bunny vet nearby and they told me they were completely booked.. but I told them that she hasn’t eaten and I suspected GI stasis, and after a talk with the vet they told me to come in as soon as possible. (I also might have cried a little.) Any vet who has experience with bunnies should know how quickly things can go wrong when it comes to stasis..
