For the past week or so, my rabbit has been leaving cecotropes around. She is fed unlimited timothy hay, a small handful of pellets and leafy greens at night.  I started to suspect that either the pellets or the greens might have been too much for her, so I cut back and the cecotropes stopped. I wanted to be sure, however, before I permanently decided to cut things out of her diet, so I took her to the vet yesterday. The vet listened to her tummy and said that her cecum sounded a bit empty, and that I needed to up the pellets and the veg because she suspected that my rabbit may only have been mimicking eating. I’ve been watching her though and she’s definitely eating hay, veg, and pellets (though not nearly as much as my other rabbit). After getting the veg, the cecotropes started up again. She hasn’t lost any weight and she is still drinking and pooping, and is just as active as she always was. The vet also gave antibiotics and insisted that I syringe fed yogurt (which I posted about yesterday)

A lot of things I’ve read on the internet are contradictory to what the vet told me- and I don’t want to cut back on the food in case she really is having too empty of a stomach.

She’s only 4 pounds so she doesn’t eat or poop as much as my larger rabbit, which I always assumed was normal for her size, but now I don’t know?

Should I take her to another vet? Should I cut back on pellets and veg? Or should I just continue with what the vet advised me?

Also- she is definitely very eager to eat the pellets but I’m hesitant about giving her so many. She eats the hay and veg but not nearly as much as my other rabbit.

I hope someone replies here soon. I’ve had the same problem recently! I’m taking my rabbit to the vet next week, can’t do that sooner, still would be nice to get some advice here.
