        Hello all.

I have a question about bedding in their bedroom.

There will be a picture of the type of cage I’m using.

My question is: I currently have bed sheets that I ripped up in there, but they don’t seem to like it. I say this because they always huddle up together on the top of the rise up thing.

I can’t use hay under there because they eat all the hay they see in sight. And I have paper bedding but I’m using that in their litter box, so I don’t want them associating their bedroom as a litter box (even though when I clean the cage out there is poop and pee in the corner on the sheet in their bedroom. ARGH)

So, could anyone help me out here? I feel really bad when they just huddle up together on the top because they look kinda pitiful. I just want them to use their bedroom!

Rabbits will lay where they want – you can’t force them. If they seem to prefer the bare plastic I would just keep it bare.

Yeah, I would agree with sarahthegemini. What I did was have a blanket down and then I pulled it tight so that my bun couldn’t grab any edges and eat them. I know I’ve heard a little fabric if okay to be ingested, but I think it’s best to keep it to a minimum. Instead, I give her plenty of toys to chew on. I’m also trying to rotate toys so she thinks they’re new ?
Also, as far as them pooping outside of their box… I discipline mine. I will pick her up, show her the bad thing, and say, “no that’s bad” and then I put her in her box with the bad mess that she made so she sees where it should go. I did this consistently so now she knows what “no that’s bad” means. Hope any of this helps! Good luck with your bun buns!

I don’t use any bedding in their cage anymore. It helped with litterbox training significantly to only have their litterbox have something soft in it (Eve reeeally has a soft spot for peeing on soft things), the buns pushed their bedding out of the way anyway to lay down, it saved sooo much money, and now that they’re free range it doesn’t really matter if they have bedding in their cage since they’re out and about anyway:p
